Class 11 Commerce Coaching in Rohini: Accounts, BST and Economics Made Simple
Class 11 Commerce is the most underrated stream in Delhi schools. Many parents push children towards Science by default. But a Class 10 student who is comfortable with English, has a logical mind and finds Math manageable will often outscore Science students in Class 12 if they pick Commerce. This guide explains the three core subjects and how we teach them at Excellent Students' Academy Rohini.
The three core subjects
Accountancy
Accounts is the first time most students see a subject where every problem has one correct answer. There is no opinion in a balance sheet. Class 11 Accounts covers basic concepts, journal entries, ledger, trial balance, depreciation and partnership basics. By the end of Class 11, your child should be writing journal entries the way they write a sentence in English - without thinking.
Business Studies
BST is the most read and least practised subject. It looks easy because everything is in plain English. The trap is that students cram it the week before the exam and score 60. Toppers treat it as a writing discipline - answer in points, learn the framework chapters (organising, staffing, marketing) cold, and practise the 5-mark answers all year.
Economics
Class 11 Economics has two halves - Statistics and Micro Economics. Statistics is closer to Math. Micro is closer to BST. Students who do well in both halves usually become Commerce toppers. We treat each half separately at ESA and recommend each student practise 15 numerical from the stats half every week.
How ESA structures the Commerce batch
Our Class 11 Commerce program at the Rohini Sector 7 centre runs Monday to Saturday, 5 PM to 8:30 PM. The week is split:
- Monday and Thursday: Accountancy
- Tuesday and Friday: Business Studies
- Wednesday: Economics (Statistics half)
- Saturday: Weekly chapter test for whichever subject was the focus, plus one hour Economics Micro
What weak Class 10 students do well in Class 11 Commerce
Every year we see students who scored 70-75 percent in Class 10 finish Class 11 Commerce above 85. Three reasons. One, Accounts rewards practice not aptitude. Two, BST is shorter than 10th Social Science. Three, the Commerce stream has fewer parallel competitive exams pulling attention - no JEE, no NEET - so the focus stays on boards.
